Tuition fee scholarships for master’s degree students
Scholarships or reductions in tuition fees may be available for students in international master’s degree programmes. Students liable to pay a tuition fee can apply for a scholarship to cover a part or the whole tuition fee. On this page you can read about the different types of scholarships and how to apply for them.
Please note that decisions regarding all scholarships mentioned below are final and may not be appealed.
Also note that the tuition fee scholarships (waivers) are granted only for the first two years of studies at ÅAU. All students are entitled to apply for student scholarships for other purposes throughout their entire period of study at the university.
Scholarships for students admitted in 2026 or later
Åbo Akademi University grants an early commitment offer for students liable to pay tuition fees and who are admitted for studies starting in the autumn of 2026. The early commitment offer is a discount of 4000 €, which means that the remaining tuition fee for the first academic year is 8000 €. Admitted students can claim the offer by accepting their study place and paying the tuition fee within a deadline specified in their admissions letter. Admitted students who do not accept their study place and do not pay the tuition fee within the deadline for the early commitment offer need to pay the full amount of 12000 €.
For the second year, all admitted students are awarded a tuition fee reduction of 4000 €, leaving the remaining annual tuition fee at 8000 €. Applicants do not need to apply separately for this second year scholarship.
Scholarships mentioned for students admitted earlier are not available for those admitted in 2026 or later.
Scholarships for students admitted in 2025 or earlier
Åbo Akademi University offers two categories of tuition fee waivers (scholarships) for those admitted in 2025 or earlier:
Tuition fee-paying students in our master’s degree programmes can apply for the 100 % tuition fee scholarship. Please note that if you are exempted from paying tuition fees, you are not eligible for the scholarship.
- 100% Tuition Fee Scholarship (waiver), awarded for 2 years (second year conditional)
- Number of scholarships to be granted: 1/programme
- 80% Tuition Fee Scholarship (waiver), awarded for the whole length of the study right
- This scholarship is granted to all admitted applicants liable to pay tuition fees, who have not received a 100% Tuition Fee Scholarship.
- You do not need to apply for this scholarship.
